Using Modern Yogi
By using modernyogi.co — browsing, reading Notes, or placing an order — you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
We update these terms occasionally. The most recent date is at the top of this page, and material changes are flagged on the homepage for thirty days after they take effect.
Who can use the site
To place an order on the India store, you need to be at least eighteen years old. If you're younger, we'd love for you to read Notes and look at the work, but please ask someone older to handle the buying part.
By placing an order you confirm that the information you give us is accurate, that the payment method belongs to you, and that you are not barred from receiving our products under Indian law.
Your account
An account lets you place orders, track them, and save your shipping details. You open one by confirming an email address. You can close it from your account page or by writing to us. Closing an account does not cancel orders already in progress.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. There is no password to remember — you sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or a passkey if you’ve added one — so keeping your email inbox secure is what keeps your account secure. If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, write to us and we will help you secure it.
Please keep your address and contact details current. We rely on what's in your account when we send you orders and confirmations — wrong information leads to lost parcels, and the cost of re-shipping a misdirected order falls to whoever entered the address.
One account per person, please. Multiple accounts used to game promotions or returns will be consolidated, and we may close the duplicates without notice.
Acceptable use
A short list of things we ask you not to do on this site: scrape or systematically copy our pages, photographs, or product data; place orders using payment methods that aren't yours; use the site to harass our staff or other customers; probe the site for security vulnerabilities without writing to us first; or use the returns process to obtain free use of products.
We may suspend or close an account if any of these happen, and in serious cases we may report the conduct to the relevant authorities. If you find a security issue and want to tell us about it the right way, write to contact@modernyogi.co with the words “security report” in the subject line. We acknowledge reports within two business days.
Closing and termination
You can close your account at any time from the account page or by writing to us. Closing it removes your saved details from active use; data we are required by law to keep — primarily order records for tax and GST purposes — stays for the period described in our Privacy policy.
We may suspend or close an account if we have reason to believe it has been used for fraud, harassment, or in breach of these terms; if a customer has placed an unreasonable number of returns in a short window that suggests the returns policy is being misused; or if a payment method connected to the account is in dispute. We will write to you with the reason where we can.
Orders, pricing, payment
When you place an order, you make an offer to buy at the listed price. We accept the offer when we send a shipping confirmation. Until then, we may cancel or correct an order — including in the rare case where a price is listed incorrectly. If we do, we refund you in full immediately.
Prices on the India store are shown in Indian Rupees (INR). Any applicable GST is shown at checkout. Modern Yogi is registered under GST — GSTIN 05ACCFM1154D1ZT.
Payments are processed by Razorpay. Your card, UPI, or netbanking details go to Razorpay directly and never pass through our servers. We do not store payment credentials.
Promotions and discount codes
From time to time we offer discount codes — through Notes or for specific occasions. Unless a code says otherwise: one code per order, codes cannot be combined with other codes, codes are not redeemable for cash, and codes have an expiry date stated when they are issued.
If you return an item that was discounted with a code, we refund what you paid. The code is consumed by the order; it does not return to your account for a second use.
We do not run automatic price-matching against our own past prices, or against other retailers. If something is discounted after you've ordered it, we don't issue a price-difference credit — and equally, if a price goes up after you buy, we don't ask for the difference.
Shipping and returns
Delivery, returns, and refunds are covered in detail in our Shipping & Returns policy. The short version: the India store ships within India from our warehouse in India, you have thirty days from delivery to return most items, and refunds reach your original payment method within five to ten business days after we receive the return.
Anything that isn't covered by that policy is handled case by case. Write to us and we will work it out.
Product information
We try to describe and photograph our products accurately. Colours may shift slightly between screens, and woven materials show small batch-to-batch variation — these are characteristics of the materials, not faults. If an item arrives meaningfully different from what was described, write to us and we will make it right.
Stock levels shown at checkout are accurate at the time you view them, but inventory can change between view and purchase. If something becomes unavailable after you order, we will let you know within one business day and refund you in full.
Our content, and yours
Everything on modernyogi.co — the text, photographs, drawings, code, and the design itself — is owned by Modern Yogi or licensed to us. We grant you a limited, personal, non-commercial licence to browse the site, read what's here, and place orders. You may share single pages or product images on personal social accounts; for republication, commercial use, training of a machine-learning model, or anything else beyond personal sharing, please write and ask.
If you submit a review, photograph, or note to Modern Yogi — for example, a product review on a product page, or a photograph of a mat in your home — you confirm that it is your work, that no one else holds a claim to it, and that nothing in it is unlawful, defamatory, or designed to deceive. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use it on the site and in occasional editorial communications. We will not use it in paid advertising without first asking you.
We may decline to publish, or remove, any submission for any reason — most often because it does not relate to the product, contains personal information about someone else, or runs against the calm tone we try to keep across the site. We will say why if we do.
Third-party services and links
The site uses a small number of third-party services to do specific jobs we cannot do ourselves: Razorpay for payments on the India store, Delhivery for delivery within India, ZeptoMail for transactional emails, Klaviyo for marketing emails, Google Analytics for site analytics, and — only with your consent — advertising tags from Meta, Google, and Pinterest. Each of them is named in our Privacy policy, and each handles your data under its own terms.
The site may link to or embed content from places we don't run — a teacher's website mentioned in a Note, a research paper, a video. We choose those links carefully, but we don't control what happens once you click through, and we are not responsible for the content, terms, or practices of those places.
Disclaimers and limitations
We try to keep the site available and the information on it accurate. We do not promise that the site will always be available, free of errors, or compatible with every device. If something is broken, please write and let us know.
Yoga practice involves physical movement. Please practise within your capacity and seek qualified instruction if you are uncertain about a posture. The Notes section is reflection, not medical advice. If you have an injury or condition, talk to a doctor or physiotherapist before changing your practice.
To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the value of the order in question. Nothing in these terms removes or limits any rights you have under Indian consumer protection law.
Events outside our control
There are events that neither of us can prevent: a pandemic, a natural disaster, a war, a sudden change in law, a carrier strike, a power failure at a hosting provider. If something like that interferes with our ability to take an order, ship it, or otherwise honour these terms in the usual way, we are not in breach of these terms for the period it takes to resume normal service.
We will keep you informed, refund any order we cannot fulfil, and resume as soon as we reasonably can.
Indemnification
If your use of the site, your breach of these terms, or content you submit to us results in a claim against Modern Yogi by a third party, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of defending against it. This is a standard clause in commercial agreements; it rarely comes into play in practice, and we would always speak with you first before turning to it.
Dispute resolution and governing law
If you have a complaint, we would much rather hear about it from you than from a lawyer. The fastest path is to write to contact@modernyogi.co with a description of the issue and what you'd like us to do. We respond within five business days and try to resolve it directly.
If we cannot — and we will be honest with you when that's the case — we will offer mediation through a mutually-agreed mediator before either of us turns to a court. Each party covers its own costs in mediation unless we agree otherwise.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. For anything that cannot be resolved through the steps above, the courts at Dehradun, Uttarakhand have jurisdiction. This does not affect your rights under Indian consumer protection law, including your right to approach the consumer commissions.
General
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still apply. If we don't immediately enforce a term, we have not given it up; we may still enforce it later.
These terms — together with our Privacy policy and our Shipping & Returns policy — make up the whole agreement between you and Modern Yogi about your use of this site. They replace any earlier terms we may have published.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another business — for example, in the context of a sale of the business — but only if your rights as a customer would not be reduced. You may not transfer your rights to anyone else without our consent.
Changes and contact
We update these terms occasionally. Material changes are flagged on the homepage and at the top of this page for thirty days after they take effect.
For questions about these terms, write to contact@modernyogi.co or use our contact page.
If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will answer in plain language — contact@modernyogi.co.
